Strengthen cooperation between Petrovietnam and Australian energy enterprises
On 16th February, Petrovietnam President and CEO Le Manh Hung received and worked with Ms. Robyn Mudie, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam and representatives of the Australian Embassy in Vietnam.

Attending the meeting on Petrovietnam’s side were Vice President Mr. Pham Tien Dzung and heads of Divisions/ Administration Office. 

On behalf of the Group’s leaders, President and CEO Le Manh Hung welcomed the Ambassador and members of the Australian Embassy to visit and work with Petrovietnam. On the occasion, the Group’s leader informed the Ambassador and the delegation about the Group’s activities, a number of energy projects the Group has been cooperating with energy enterprises of Australia. Especially, President and CEO Le Manh Hung shared about the Group’s strategy in the process of responding to climate change and the trend of energy transition in the world.

Petrovietnam has built a development strategy for being proactive and adaptive to the trend of energy transition taking place globally, ensuring synchronization with the Government’s goals on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Petrovietnam will increase the application of science, technology and techniques to “green” oil and gas plants and projects. At the same time, the Group has actively researched opportunities for investment in new energy/clean energy projects such as offshore wind power, hydrogen, CCS/CCUS... demonstrating Petrovietnam’s determination in strategic activities that contribute to realizing the commitment of the Government of Vietnam at the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26). 

With the development strategy of Petrovietnam, the Group’s leader hoped, through the Australian Embassy, to continue promoting the development of the strategic partnership between Vietnam - Australia in general as well as strengthen and develop the cooperation between enterprises of the two countries, including Petrovietnam. Through periodic dialogues held between the Governments of the two countries, Petrovietnam hoped to open up opportunities for cooperation and experience sharing on the energy transition process between Australian and Petrovietnam energy companies in the future. 

Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Robyn Mudie emphasized that the energy and mining sectors were the top priority pillars of the Australian Government in the strategic cooperation relationship with Vietnam. Ambassador Robyn Mudie affirmed that Petrovietnam would play an important role in promoting the cooperation relationship between the two countries in the above sectors, and expressed the wish that Petrovietnam and Australian energy enterprises would strengthen cooperation in LNG and renewable energy projects, thereby regularly sharing information and experiences in implementing strategies to adapt to the trend of energy transition. 

 

Ambassador Robyn Mudie pledged that Australia as well as Australian enterprises were ready to cooperate and support Petrovietnam. At the same time, she emphasized the parties could effectively cooperate in many fields, including the development of renewable energy to achieve the target of low emissions.
