Petrovietnam promotes application of offshore technologies in the process of energy and digital transformation
From 1st to 10th May 2023, the delegation of Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) led by member of the Board of Directors Tran Binh Minh and Vice President Le Ngoc Son attended the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC 2023) in Houston (USA) and worked with partners in the hydrogen production sector in Toronto & Alberta (Canada).

The OTC 2023 in Houston (USA) from 1st to 4th May 2023 is an annual, large-scale event that gathers leading experts in the world to exchange and share about technology trends and pressing topics of the offshore energy industry in the fields of oil and gas engineering technology, offshore wind power, renewable energy, carbon capture and energy transformation...

 

Petrovietnam leaders attend OTC 2023 and daily work programs at OTC 2023

During the time attending the Conference, the delegation had working sessions with Murphy Company, with US Oil and Gas companies on cooperation opportunities in the field of importing and distributing LNG products; with Chart/Howden Company to provide technological solutions towards clean energy as well as equipment in the oil and gas industry; with the Companies providing Technology/Service solutions for the Oil and Gas sector (BakerHuges Company; SLB Company (Schlumberger) and with Microsoft on digital transformation.

From 5th to 10th May 2023, the delegation had working sessions with Canadian partners in the field of hydrogen production. With the support from representatives of the Government of Ontario and Alberta, the delegation contacted and worked with a number of companies/associations including Enbridge Company (the Owner and Operator of the world’s largest pipeline system) and visited the first hydrogen-natural gas blending facility in North America.

During the working period, the delegation worked with the Canadian Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Association on a number of policies of the Canadian government and the government of Alberta; worked with several representatives of the IETA, a non-profit business organization founded in 1999, to establish a greenhouse gas emission reduction exchange mechanism with a membership that includes international energy companies, investment banks involved in the setting and implementation of rules and guidelines for the carbon credits offset market in many countries; worked with DynaCERT Company on on-site hydrogen production technology used in transportation; worked with representatives of Cipher Neutron Company on the technology of hydrogen production on the basis of electrolysis with electrodes that do not use precious metals.

 

The delegation visits Alberta Carbon Conversion Technology Centre

In Alberta, the delegation visited Alberta Industrial Heartland - the largest oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical processing industry in Canada; worked with Proton Technologies to listen to the introduction of the capacity of air compression technology to expired oil/gas fields for Hydrogen recovery and visited a technology center for CO2 conversion, recovery and utilization on a commercial scale (Alberta Carbon Conversion Technology Centre).
