The meeting was attended by Mr. Le Manh Hung - Vice President of PetroVietnam, Mr. Le Xuan Huyen - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company (BSR) and heads of Divisions and Administration Office of the Group.

At the meeting, Chairman Tran Sy Thanh welcomed the Assistant Secretary of State and the US delegation to visit and work at PetroVietnam and updated the situation of some projects that PetroVietnam was cooperating with US companies.
The Chairman highly appreciated the cooperation between Vietnamese and US enterprises generally, as well as between PetroVietnam and US enterprises in the energy sector particularly.

US Assistant Secretary of State Francis Fannon highly appreciated the investment environment in Vietnam and emphasized US businesses were always interested in and prioritized cooperation with Vietnamese businesses, including projects that PetroVietnam and US partners were interested in.
On the occasion, Mr. Francis Fannon exchanged with PetroVietnam's leader the proposals and recommendations of US businesses in a number of projects cooperating with PetroVietnam. At the same time, he hoped the cooperation in the energy sector would be a premise to support Vietnam's economic development.
The US Assistant Secretary of State pledged that US businesses would provide technical assistance for energy development in Vietnam, implement agreed contents in the 2nd Vietnam - US Energy Security Dialogue held in May 2019.

On behalf of the Group's leaders, Chairman Tran Sy Thanh thanked for the support of the US Assistant Secretary of State, as well as the cooperation of US energy enterprises in Vietnam in the past time. The Chairman committed that PetroVietnam would create favorable conditions for US enterprises to invest in economic development projects in general and energy sector in particular.

On the occasion, the US Assistant Secretary of State and the leaders of PetroVietnam and BSR welcomed the first US crude oil tanker to Vietnam. Earlier, on 29th April 2019, the Almi Horizon docked at Dung Quat Refinery, carrying 950,000 barrels of crude oil mined in the United States. The Almi Horizon tanker carried the flag of Liberia and was hired by BP Oil Company (UK) to transport the oil.
