Petrovietnam Enhances Strategic and Sustainable Cooperation with U.S. Partners
On April 3, 2025, Mr. Lê Mạnh Hùng, Chairman of the Board of Members of Petrovietnam, hosted a meeting with H.E. Marc Knapper, U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam. During the meeting, Mr. Hùng emphasized that strengthening cooperation with U.S. partners is a vital component of Petrovietnam's green and sustainable development strategy.

Also attending the meeting were Petrovietnam’s Deputy General Directors Lê Xuân Huyên and Lê Mạnh Cường, along with senior representatives from the Group’s specialized departments and Office.

Welcoming Ambassador Marc Knapper, Chairman Lê Mạnh Hùng expressed appreciation for the opportunity to discuss achievements and explore further cooperation between U.S. enterprises and Petrovietnam. He noted that over its 50-year history, Petrovietnam has built strong and effective partnerships with leading U.S. companies across the entire energy value chain—from upstream to downstream.

In the context of Vietnam and the United States celebrating the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the second anniversary of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Mr. Hùng reaffirmed Petrovietnam's commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.

As Vietnam’s largest state-owned enterprise in the industrial and energy sectors, Petrovietnam sees the U.S. as a key strategic partner.

During General Secretary Tô Lâm’s official visit to the U.S. at the end of 2024, Petrovietnam engaged in high-level meetings and signed significant cooperation agreements with major U.S. energy corporations, laying the groundwork for green and sustainable development initiatives.

Chairman Lê Mạnh Hùng expressed his hope that Ambassador Knapper would continue to support the advancement of collaborative projects between Petrovietnam and U.S. companies. He also proposed that the Ambassador advocate for policy frameworks that support Vietnamese enterprises—particularly in the energy sector—in accessing technology, investment, and market opportunities in the U.S.

In his remarks, Ambassador Marc Knapper thanked Chairman Hùng for the insightful briefing and reaffirmed his confidence in the continued success of U.S.–Vietnam business partnerships. He pledged to work with American companies to strengthen their presence and engagement in Vietnam and expressed his hope that the U.S. would remain a key partner in supporting Vietnam through technology transfer, training, and supply chain cooperation—ultimately contributing to Vietnam’s energy security.
