At the meeting, Ambassador Cristina Romila expressed her gratitude to Petrovietnam’s leaders for taking the time to receive the delegation. On the occasion, Ms. Cristina Romila recalled the long-standing traditional friendship between Vietnam and Romania and it has increasingly been consolidated and strengthened in many fields over the years. The Ambassador especially emphasized that cooperation in the field of oil and gas energy has remained its important role in the friendly relationship between the two countries. Currently, Romania is focusing on promotion and implementation of oil and gas, renewable energy, green energy projects, towards the goal of reducing “net-zero” emissions by 2035.  

Overview of the meeting

Ms. Cristina Romila’s wish is that in the coming time Petrovietnam and Romanian energy enterprises will continue to promote cooperation and develop energy projects in particular, economic cooperation in general to contribute to building and promoting the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Romania. 

On behalf of the Group’s leaders, Chairman Hoang Quoc Vuong thanked Romania and the Ambassador personally for the love to Vietnam and Petrovietnam. The Romanian people have always stood by and united to help the Vietnamese people throughout the process of national construction and development. Especially, for many generations of oil and gas people, Romania is like their second home. Many Vietnamese oil and gas experts and officials trained in Romania have made worthy contributions to the construction and development of Vietnam’s oil and gas industry.

As shared by Chairman Hoang Quoc Vuong, in the coming period, Petrovietnam will aim to develop into an environmentally friendly energy group, in which the oil and gas sector continues to play a fundamental role. The Group will promote key oil and gas projects, increase participation in renewable energy and green energy projects, demonstrate Petrovietnam’s determination in strategic activities, and contribute to realizing commitment of the Government of Vietnam at the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26). 

Chairman Hoang Quoc Vuong emphasized that in the process of adapting to the trend of energy transition, Petrovietnam wished to receive attention and cooperation from Romanian enterprises. At the same time, he affirmed the cooperation between Petrovietnam and Romanian businesses will actively contribute to the cultivation and development of the traditional and friendly relationship between Vietnam and Romania.
