Petrovietnam Chairman of the Board of Directors Hoang Quoc Vuong worked with AES leader

Mr. Mark Green, on behalf of AES leaders, reported to Chairman Hoang Quoc Vuong on the updated implementation of Son My LNG Terminal Project. After the Charter of Son My LNG Port Warehouse Limited Company, the agreement and necessary documents in accordance with Vietnamese law for the establishment of Son My LNG Port Warehouse Limited Company were signed by PV Gas and AES on 27th December 2022, PV GAS and AES Investments LLC submitted an investment registration dossier for the project to establish and operate Son My LNG Port Warehouse Limited Company to the Department of Planning and Investment of Binh Thuan province. Currently, the parties are actively working with relevant agencies of Binh Thuan Province to be granted the project investment registration certificate as well as complete the related procedures soon. 

Overview of the meeting

Chairman Hoang Quoc Vuong affirms that Son My LNG Terminal Project is an important project for Vietnam and Petrovietnam wishes to promote the project implementation towards synchronizing the use of LNG for power projects. In addition, in the current global energy transition trend, Chairman Hoang Quoc Vuong proposes AES to share its experience with Petrovietnam in renewable energy, offshore wind power and hydrogen projects. 

AES realizes that Vietnam has potential to develop offshore wind power projects and wishes to cooperate with Petrovietnam and its member units to develop and implement projects in this field as well as hydrogen projects. In addition, AES can share experiences and cooperate with Petrovietnam in the project to provide battery storage solutions for power projects. 

With the experience of leader of a region in transition towards implementing AES’s overall strategy for emissions reduction, Mr. Mark Green shares the goal of combining AES’s strategy with Vietnam’s energy transition strategy, contributing to efforts to reduce global emissions.
