Attending the meeting were Dr. Nguyen Anh Duc, Director of the Vietnam Petroleum Institute (VPI), representatives of the Group’s Divisions/Administration Office, experts of VPI, and Rostec in Russia participated online. 

At the meeting, Mr. Alexander Melik-Davydov and members of the delegation introduced and informed the Group’s leaders about the activities of Rostec as well as RT-BD company. The Company has been implementing projects in Russia and abroad. The Company’s main areas of activity are petrochemicals, hydrogen energy, engineering with such customers as Gazprom, Gazprom NEFT, Schlumberger…

Overview of the meeting 

The Rostec representative also introduced to Petrovietnam a number of technologies and solutions for hydrogen production with many advantages in terms of cost, mobility, high output, environmental safety… as well as products that could be used and applied for other industries, especially in the fields of energy and petrochemicals. Through the meeting, the Rostec representative wished to cooperate with Petrovietnam and its member units, enhance information exchange and experience sharing in the field of hydrogen production.

On behalf of the Group’s leaders, Member of the Board of Directors Bui Minh Tien thanked Rostec representatives for sharing and information about the research and hydrogen production technology that Rostec has been implementing.

As emphasized by Mr. Bui Minh Tien, the development orientation of Petrovietnam in the coming period is to develop into an environmentally friendly energy group, in which the oil and gas sector continues to play a fundamental role. Therefore, hydrogen is an important fuel source for economic activities in general and business activities of Petrovietnam in particular. Currently, Petrovietnam is assigning the Vietnam Petroleum Institute to study the opportunities and demand for hydrogen for the Group’s development.

Member of the Board of Directors Bui Minh Tien suggested that on the basis of the meeting, VPI would act as the focal point to coordinate with the Group’s member units to continue discussing and researching cooperation opportunities with Rostec in the near future on the issues and solutions to cope with the trend of energy transition and climate change.
