LNG Thi Vai terminal warehouse project is invested by PV GAS with a capacity of one million ton LNG per year passing the warehouse in the first phase, expected to complete in 2022; Phase 2 with a capacity of 3 million tons LNG per year, expected to complete in 2023. LNG Thi Vai terminal is capable of receiving LNG vessels of up to 85,000 tons, main items of phase 1 includes LNG tanks of 180,000m3 and technological equipment is designed according to Vietnamese standards, regulations and international standards. Total investment of phase 1 is over 285 million USD; after being completed, it will supplement the supply of about 1.4 billion m3 of gas to customers including Nhon Trach 3 and 4 Power Plants, industrial customers, partially offsetting the shortage of gas in the country after 2022.

LNG Thi Vai terminal warehouse and Nhon Trach 3 and 4 Power Plants will contribute to ensuring gas and electricity demand for the key economic region in the Southeast. For the first time, Vietnam has LNG used by the power plants and PV GAS is proud to be selected as a supplier of LNG - the first energy source to appear in Vietnam.

Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu

LNG Thi Vai terminal warehouse will be an important link in providing renewable gas for gas consumers, including Nhon Trach 3 and 4 Power Plants. Together with LNG Son My import terminal warehouse with total expected capacity of up to 10 million tons of LNG per year, the energy demand for the Southern region in the future will basically be met.

Petrovietnam’s Party Committee Secretary,
Chairman of the Board of Directors Tran Sy Thanh is speaking at the ceremon

The completed and operated projects will contribute to stabilizing national energy security, supplementing the shortage of gas and electricity in the Southeast region, contributing positively to the economic growth in the Southeast region. In particular, this is a step to accelerate meeting the increasing energy demand for the country's economic development, partly offset the declining domestic gas production and the difficulty facing exploration of alternative oil and gas sources.

PV GAS General Director Duong Manh Son

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Uong Chu Luu - Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly congratulated Petrovietnam and PV GAS on additional important project in ensuring national energy security, and also marking a big step in the gas industry of our country. Mr. Uong Chu Luu affirmed that, along with the increasingly intensive international integration of Vietnam, the oil and gas has always been identified by the State as an important economic industry, contributing to national economic stabilization and development. The State would continue monitoring and supporting Petrovietnam, including PV GAS to stabilize and develop in order to promote the role of the country's important economic sector.

Mr. Tran Sy Thanh – Petrovietnam Chairman of the Board of Directors emphasizes that it is the first LNG project in Vietnam with special significance in the backward sector of the oil and gas industry. Therefore, as the leading bird in the gas field in Vietnam today, PV GAS shall be responsible for maintaining the leading role in the gas industry in general and the LNG sector in particular. Mr. Tran Sy Thanh requires PV GAS leaders and the contractors to drastically focus on implementing the project in accordance with the plan, ensuring safety, quality and progress.
