PetroVietnam President and CEO joins VELP and works with US oil and gas companies

From 2nd to 6th December 2019, PetroVietnam President and CEO Le Manh Hung joined VELP (Vietnam Executive Leadership Program) with the delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, Member of the Politburo, Head of the Central Economics Department, along with some leaders of central agencies, provincies, cities and State enterprises in Boston, United States.

The program is designed to foster and exchange experience with leading US professors and experts on important areas that Vietnam has been facing in the global campaign process such as digital transformation of the State management/ administration system, corporate governance; network security; trends of energy development and environmental protection; investment in health to ensure socio-economic growth; industrial restructuring; investment in urban areas; creating a research and development (R&D) environment and attract R&D to Vietnam ...

After that, on 9th December 2019, the delegation also had a meeting with Mr. Peter Tichansky, the United States Deputy Secretary of the Treasury, and a round table dialogue with US businesses such as AES, Tellurian, Metlife, AT&T... in New York City to strengthen investment cooperation in the fields of energy and finance between Vietnam and the United States; especially US$ 1.4 billion project for liquefied petroleum gas (LNG) import warehouse between PetroVietnam Gas Corporation and AES.

On the sidelines of the meeting, President and CEO Le Manh Hung discussed with partners about expanding cooperation across the value chain (Upstream, Midstream and Downstream) to increase the participation of Vietnam in the chain of energy supply and demand and reduce trade deficit between the two countries.

At the end of the working program with the State delegation, on 10th – 11th December 2019, President Le Manh Hung and some units of the Group visited the headquarters and worked with a number of US businesses/ partners in the city of Houston including ExxonMobil, Shell, Baker-Hughes, IBM, Sulzer GTC, Halliburton…

During the working sessions, the President and CEO discussed with the partners about cooperation opportunities in the field of crude oil supply, technology application for petrochemical refineries, technology for oil and gas production, digital transformation for management of the Group's production and business activities as well as participation in searching and finding solutions to handling situations arising in production and business activities…

The parties highly appreciated the opportunities for cooperation with PetroVietnam to address practical issues and 4.0 industrial integration in order to increase production and business efficiency and minimize environmental impact. The President and CEO suggested that the parties and PVN would concretize the cooperation opportunities in the near future with the goal of mutual benefits; developing/ tightening cooperation relations in many aspects with strategic partners. 

The business trip ended on 13th December 2019, opening more cooperation opportunities for the Group as well as realizing step by step development and integration of PVN's global movement trend./.
