The delegation attended the “Russian Energy Week 2023” Forum with the theme “New Reality of World Energy: Creating the Future” with more than 4,000 guests from 60 different countries. This is the second consecutive year the Government of Vietnam has sent the Minister of Industry and Trade to attend the Forum, thereby affirming that energy is always a traditional field of cooperation and one of the pillars of Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. 

On 12th October 2023, the delegation attended the work program of the Minister of Industry and Trade and the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation. The two sides reviewed the implementation of bilateral oil and gas and energy projects as well as agreed on a number of major cooperation directions the two sides would study and proceed to implement in the coming time. Also at the meeting, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien and Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Nikolai Gregorievich Shulginov signed protocols amending the Intergovernmental Agreement on the operation of Vietsovpetro and Rusvietpetro. 

The signing of these two documents demonstrates the strong support of the two countries’ leaders of State and Government for the priority policy of developing the energy and oil and gas sectors in bilateral cooperation and better facilitating production and business activities of the two joint ventures,  as well as improves the investment efficiency of the two participating parties in Block 09-1 and 04 Nhenhexky Block, thereby strengthening the cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation. 

On the sidelines of the “Russian Energy Week” Forum, the delegation and the Minister of Industry and Trade worked with major oil and gas enterprises of the Russian Federation, i.e. Zarubezhneft, Gazprom and NOVATEK, the parties discussed the implementation of projects of the enterprises to promote the implementation of cooperation activities between the two countries and among the enterprises in the coming time.
